Does what it's supposed to do!
I bought this machine in March of 2007, for a "GREAT" price. Thank you amazon!!!!Used the machine today for the first time,Wow!!moves alot of snow in little or no time. I do however smell like the exhaust from the machine,something i'm sure cant be helped.According to consumer reports lawn-boy mowers are the most repair prone of the lawn mowers they've tested, I hope the same is not true of thier snow blowers.

Better then expected
I bought two of these and sent one to my daughter. The past winter here was very mild and I did not have to use mine. But my daughter used hers and was overjoyed with the performance. She lives in an area that receives heavy snow and so she used it often. It started on the first pull every time and went through the snow quickly. The only issue for her was that she did not set the output chute properly and she threw a bunch of snow into her neighbor's yard. After that incident she read the manual completely and has not had any issues. This review is kind of second hand, but it is accurate.

Lawn-Boy Insight 20-Inch Single-Stage Snow Thrower
I ordered this snow thrower when our old, used snow thrower had a meltdown during an early March snowstorm. It was delivered 4 days after I placed my order, but when my husband opened the box he was visibly disappointed in the compact size of the machine. I thought it was cute and pleaded with my husband to just give the little guy a chance. I also pointed out that with it's fold down handle and relatively light weight, it would be easy to transport in the back of our SUV. You know, for those days when you just have it take it along with you somewhere. My husband's fears were soon tossed aside, just like the snow the Lawn-Boy blew half-way across our lawn. In no time, our driveway was as snow free as a Florida parking lot. Lawn-Boy? He should be called Lawn-Man!! Next Snow Thrower

Lightweight bests the Heavyweights
I concur with the generous reviews of most of my fellow consumers. This machine may take longer than a more powerful gas-powered machine, and sideways expulsion may not be optimal but having said that, I cleared 12" deep, crusty, week old snow from a 100' circular driveway and - unlike the monsters my neighbors use - this machine virtually squeegeed the surface clean. After sprinkling a little calcium chloride, I was the only house with visible blacktop in my Sturgeon Bay WI neighborhood. Cord management is a little irritating but when I consider that I don't have to buy gas, or change the oil, or sharpen blades, I can live with the hassle.

No regrets
Bought this last year when my back went out after shoveling seven weeks of weekly storms. Woke up this morning with 7 inches of new heavy snow, first of the year. Dug the machine out of the garage, plugged it in, and went to work. After clearing two driveways, a long walk, my deck, and my neighbor's sidewalk, I can honestly say this thing is a fail-safe awesome machine. My only regrets is that I didn't buy it years ago.

Fabulous!
I am a single, older female who has used Toro power shovels for many years. Due to health problems, I can no longer use the power shovel because of the lifting required. (It has no wheels). I ordered the Snow Fox because it rolls, it's lightweight, and small enough to tuck into the front hall.

We were just hit with a nice 6" snow, and I tried out my new toy. I LOVE IT! The wheels mean that I don't have to lift it, but it is light enough to lift into the house. It tilts easily to roll over obstacles. It has directional vanes to blow right, left or straight ahead. It has a cord retainer to keep the extension cord from disconnecting (a MAJOR annoyance with my old machine). And, the price was right! Next Snow Thrower

So far, so good...
I bought this product about 3 weeks ago and have used it twice so far - once with about 2" of snow, once with 8" of snow. I would say that while it was not as powerful as I was hoping it would be (I'd say it was able to throw snow about 5 to 10 feet), it did clear down to the pavement. When heading into heavy snow, the motor seemed to whine a little. I learned that if you slow down going into the heavy snow, it will not whine and is capable of clearing it. I've had no problems with the discharge chute - it hasn't clogged once. Overall, I would recommend this product based on my limited experience. It sure beats shoveling!

Waste of money ! Update the company called me!
I bought this off QVC.Threw my snow a whole 2 feet! Clogged up all the time! Used my snow shovel, It was faster! Was not a happy camper! I put it back in the box and sent it back! I had to pay u.p.s $40.00 to return it! Going to try the the electric Toro this time with all those great reviews! I hope I will be happy!
Update!: The company called me today and told me they were sorry that it did not work out for me! They told me that I probably had a defective unit and they have very few complaints. I told them that it did not seem to have enough power to throw snow! It should have worked good! They offer to send another one for me to try out. I told them that I bought another one!(Toro) But I wanted to say THEY CARED ABOUT ME! and wanted to give them 5 stars for that!!!Not too many companys do that any more! I just want to be fair!

Not as good as advertised
I bought the snow joe about 3 weeks ago and I used it for our first snow of the season this week I went back to the shovel for the second snow a few days later. It does clear down to the sidewalk but it doesn't throw the snow very far at all. 1st I had to make a second pass just to clear the snow that didn't clear the sidewalk. 2nd the discharge chute consistently clogs up, I had to stop and clear the chute over a dozen times. 3rd the "so called 4 steel blades" is a little misleading, they're 4 rubber blades secured to 4 steel blades. This item is good for powder snow only, it just doesn't have enough power to throw the wet snow. And finally if possible don't buy from Polsteins Home and Beyond terrible customer service. Never again once bitten twice shy.

Right after the power shovel showed up we had a foot of snow. it was light snow (wieght wise) but the power shovel handled it easily. For the price this is a great light weight unit. I like that it isn't gas powered so it is easy to start.

Do not buy it!
I got it for my husband, and we had a little dust snow and It just stopped working! It worked for 20 minutes. only throws the snow forward and it broke too fast!

I received this Toro Snowthrower in quick time. It shipped in the manufacturuer's original box, which was in nice condition as well. I have not tried out the snowthrower yet, so i will update this reveiew once i have. I must say at this time, I am a bit miffed about the price I paid. I believed Amazon's word that the regular price was $ 150 regularly. I bought it becuase it was on sale (apparently). I paid $108.99. Now, since a few friends heard I bought it i have been told that $ 109 is not much of a sale for this snowthrower. So I checked the Toro website, and sure enough the manufacturers suggested retail price for this exact model number is $125.99. That price is actually up from last week when the msrp was around $109 (what i paid for it on Amazon.) The result is of course that i got no special deal , and i have now learned to check the actual price at other merchants, before sending away for something.

An Unfortunate Shopping Experience
The power shovel is fine--light and easy to store. The process of purchasing it on Amazon using their "convenient" one-step process was, however, horrible. The supposedly convenient one-step process does not provide any indication that the order has actually been submitted. Thus, I inadvertently ordered THREE of these bulky objects and did not notice the error until 12 hours later when I got three email confirmations of three orders. Calls to Amazon (apparently somewhere on the Asian subcontinent) were futile. They insisted that nothing could be done to stop this order, but all I had to do was to print return labels and ship the extra two of them back. They did not mention, of course, that there would be an extra $15.00 shipping charge for each one. My advice--if you want one of these power shovels--buy it from your local hardware store!

This product was purchased for my 82 yr. old mother who has back problems and can't shovel snow. Living in Indiana shoveling snow is a part of the winter season. She has used the shovel several times since receiving it and has only good things to say about it. She is most impressed with the ease of use and the thorough cleaning the shovel does and that she does not have to lift and toss the snow after it is on the shovel as in past years. We would recommend this Toro Power Shovel to anyone with back problems and a willingness to shovel when there is not more than 2" on the walk. Next Snow Thrower

Snow Thrower Great little !
Having a wide deck around three sides of our home I wanted a way to clear off the heavy build up of snow that we receive each winter without so much shoveling. This little Toro does the job. It struggles slightly with the heavy stuff that comes off the roof, but then, so do I. It's done the job for me and it's so lightweight and easy to use. I choose simplicity over power with this one but I don't regret it. A gas powered wouldn't have trouble with ice, but I would have trouble getting it started, so this one works great for what I wanted it for. Ease of use, lightweight handling, and throws the snow 15-20 feet easily, clearing the decks very nicely.

As a single woman, I didn't want to deal with maintaining a gas snowblower, so when I saw this electric snowblower, I thought why not try it? I live in Minnesota and we do get many inches of snow, so most of my friends thought I was crazy to buy it. However, it has been great! I have moved 8 inches of snow at a time and have also moved the gifts that the snowplows have left. It is fabulous!
Amazon sent it as quickly as listed and putting it together was no problem - I did it on my own in 10 minutes.
I will have to get a cord holder as the cord does get in my way periodically. This is really a must buy for anyone. Happy snowblowing! :) Carmen

Snow Thrower very effective
Toro has done their homework with this snow thrower. I have a pretty large driveway and I can clear a 3-4" snowfall with it in about 45 minutes, very powerful for its size. It is very convenient as it is lubricated for life and requires very little maintenance. I just plug it in and go. It does require a quick look to be sure nothing is caught up in the snout or the chute (sticks for instance). The only negative comment I can make is, well it has a cord. It is best to follow the instructions for snow blowing in the manual and be sure to blow so the cord lays out behind you or beside you on the house outlet side. It would be easy to get the cord caught up in the snout if not careful. Next Snow Thrower
